About sheila

I,m a 64yr old, retired health worker. I spent most of my life studying and trying to further my career when I wasn't being a mother and housewife. So much so that when I took early retirement due to health problems I realised that, apart from reading children's books to my son, I had not read for pleasure for many years When I was widowed 10 years ago and felt lost so I devoured a few books, went back to my creative writing, learned to use a computer and played around with a bit of painting and drawing. I am an avid gardener and it was nice to find the time in retirement to take on an allotment. As a disabled person I found that it was easier to pace myself on my allotment than it was in the gym so I spend most of my spare time there with my dog. I met my partner 5 years ago and he introduced me to photography but I only did the minimum work enhancing them on the PC as it was of little interest to me. Last Christmas he bought me Corel Painter X because I had enjoyed the trial version. I had great fun with it but saw how amaturish my efforts were when I joined the Painter Factory and played with the big boys. Many of these people are professional artists turning out work of the calibre we see in animated movies. I felt a little intimidated and a little lost with the range of functions in the programme. Mid April I bought Essentials 4, having hesitated because I thought it would just be a reduced version of Painter X. I soon found that each programme stands in its own right but they are so related that I am finding PE4 is helping me to gain confidence with CP X. I really am enjoying discovering a creative side to my nature and love to see what others are doing with the programme.
