Welcome Henry! In answer to your question, the painting is a mixture of auto and freehand. I let PE4 do an auto painting, then go back over it all with clone and manual brush strokes on different settings until I'm happy with it. I had to build up the shading on her arms with manual brush strokes for example as on the original photo they were over exposed and had no detail at all. I also added the grass and a lily in the basket by hand as it looked odd that it was empty. Then I took it into Photoshop for some contrast and colour adjustments.
