Yesterday I visited the midland railway centre, and needless to say took loads of shots of gleaming steam trains, but I always keep an eye open for the unusual, and amidst a pile of corroding metal parts in a junk area, there was a single wild plant surviving amongst all this decay, the various colours of the rusts and corrosion were glorious, yet the plant seemd to survive with no visible means of sustenance, such is the tenacity of weeds. I did this one as a detailed watercolour using the camel oil brush, then switched to effects esoterica - and used the van gogh brush, followed by image luminance texture to make it have an almost impasto effect.
