I came across this picture when looking up my home county of Nottinghamshire. It was tiny and I expanded it using genuine fractals, (a plugin in adobe photshop) as this has less of a tendency to pixilate.

This is one of the original platforms at the Nottingham Midland Railway Station which was built in the late 1800's. Just look at that architecture, they sure don't build them like that anymore. This was built at a time when beauty and craftmanship were as important as durability and strength. A total contrast to todays attitudes.

    Methods Used

Midland station picture totally in auto paint in Essentials 4 unless otherwise stated.

My sketch 2, ran through 3 times and then erase unwanted lines

Detailed water in default  but without jagged edge

New layer and my sketch , twice

New layer detailed water using impressionist cloner

Lower opacity of layer to around 25% but increase contrast

New layer My sketch 2 twice my sketch 1 once

Drop layers and save as jpg

Squirel this is fantastic!  My sketch you say can you tell me where that button is don't think I've found it yet.

The effects you have used here are just lovely and the colours suit it just perfect.  I'm very impressed!

Thanks dianne I am well pleased with it too.

my sketch 1 and 2 are the brushes that penpal gave us the instruction about downloading in the 'suggestions' link

They give lovely lines that do not fill the page as much as the pencil sketch does so it is easy to erase what you don't want. Also you can run it several times as it does not lay the lines too heavy.

    Just follow penpal's instructions.

Thanks, I will have to chase that up as I don't remember it. It certainly would be good to have a more pencil type sketch in this programme The lines on the pen and ink often get to busy and heavy for me.

This is stunning Squirrel, one of your best I think, lovely colours and lines, and also interesting to see the architecture. Like Dianne I don't remember that posting, but I must try and find it, since it has produced something as wonderful as this.

Thanks for the comments, I was very pleased with this one myself.

The instructions to download these brushes can be found on the forum

Discussion, suggestions box, love essentials 4 but ...

It was penpal's comments that tells when he created the brushes and how to down load it.
