Essentials Cafe

Help, Help! I have a question. I tried to install Corel's update for Painter Essentials 4 under Corel's update and patch link. I get the message that 91 files are being loaded and "searching my Macintosh HD". The process runs and runs and runs--when it appears to have finished, I open Painter Essentials 4 and it does not appear to be updated. Should these updated files be directed to the Applications folder on my Mac (which is where I directed it) or should it be placed someplace else? Thanks in advance for your assistance. Barb

Hi Barb, I will be buying essentials in the next day or two. As i am using a mac also, i will be upgrading it to the latest patch so if you can hang on for a few days i will come back to you. If i dont then email me and i will have a reminder in my inbox ( my memory is diabolical hehehehe).

Even without the upgrade-patch it is a wonderful program!  Looking forward to sharing your experience installing the patch.  Barb 

As soon as someone tells me if the book included in the box version is the same or different to the guidebook in the help menu, i will buy the program.

Hi Barb:

Yes, you should be pointing the patch installer to the Applications folder, if that's where Painter Essentials is installed.  Maybe you could try downloading the patch again and running that patch?

I will give it another try now. 

I am running Leopard--Mac OS X Version 10.5.3 and I purchased Painter Essentials 4 through Corel which came as a packaged deal with a Bamboo/Wacom tablet (Disc for Bamboo Fun came with Corel Painter Essentials 3.0 program and Painter Essentials 4 was in a box from Corel labeled "upgrade").  Don't know if any of this makes a difference. 

I will let you know what happens after downloading the patch again and running that patch.

Well I tried downloading the patch again and running the patch and it told me the files were already there (after 11 minutes "searching").  

 

I tried uninstalling the Painter Essentials 4 by following the instructions, then reinstalling from my disc for Painter Essentials 4 (upgrade).  Now Painter Essentials 4 does not launch at all!  Even with the shiift key.  I feel maybe I have fallen off the edge of the Corel world.  Help!

Hi, barb! Sounds like you may need help from Corel themselves! I suggest you call them, and let them direct you on the phone while you try to install the program again.

Thanks for the suggestion.  Wendy was able to assist me and I am up and running again. I am not running the updated/patch version 4.0.048, however at this point the 4.0.036 version is fine by me.
