First Painter X Painting From Scratch

I do not plan to make a habit of posting Painter X paintings here but you all are my firends who have helped me along my way and I thought you would like to see this one. This is my Poodle painting that I did here a while back redone from scratch with the exception of tracing the outline sketch from my first painting that was done freehand in PE4. I used bristle oil brush until the very end when I used a brush I made to frizz the topknot a bit and then did the background with watercolors and salt.

absolutely wonderful - congratulations Claudia, I'm proud of you, that dogged determination has paid off.

I'm sure an exception can be made for you Claudia - after all you're part of the family and we'd liked to be able to see what you're up to.   You certainly seem to have improved by leaps and bounds  - and in a very short time too.   It's obvious that you've put your heart and soul into this painting and very lovely it is - the brushwork on Dandi's coat is outstanding.

Thank you. The brushwork was a challenge since the head and body coat on a poodle is completely different from the ear coat, ear coat is like human hair and the head and body coat is a tight kink blown dry and straightened so there is always a little almost frizz to it. Of course I can still see things I'm not satisfied with but I'm learning to leave well enough alone.

Fantastic Claudia. He looks terrific.  so glad that you have shown us it's lovely to see someone from here with their development and improvement and show us what they are up to... This is really just the beginning for you.

Thank you again everyone. I printed this on canvas today and I am very very pleased with the way it came out, so much nicer than this tiny low res image.

I applauded you in an email, but I thought I'd quote myself here for the Cafe record. Dandi looks wonderful. Very tactile, very real, very poodly. I'm especially impressed by the play of light and shadow in her brow and forehead and under her eyes (I guess those are cheekbones, but my knowledge of poodle anatomy is limited). And, now I keep looking at it, you've really done well with the underlying bone structure of the entire face.

Ten out of ten tail wags, Claudia!

As Sparky says, the bone structure is really well done, also the fluffiness of the coat, you must be very happy with this one.
