Essentials Cafe

 Hello, just discovered this place, nice.

CE3 came with my Wacom that I just bought. But now I realize that CE4 came out right before I bought the Wacom...and no one told me, bummer.

 Still looking for more tutorials for CE3.

I've been trying to do sketches, since I'm a cartoonist, and I just realized I don't have a pen to draw with in the program! All I see is a felt marker and a pencil, which is rather thick and sketchy, and...not like my pen drawings, so I can't go in and change anything. Am I missing something? Is there a way to make the pencil look more like a solid pen? They have calligraphy pens, but they're all slanty, nothing at all like what I need.

If you select the 2B pencil, you can play with the size, opacity, and grain (on the property bar) to try and mimic a pen.  For example, try increasing the opacity to 100% and the increasing size and grain until you get the desired result. 

 Thanks, Wendy. I see all sorts of brushes being offered free on the internet for PS, but not as many for Corel. I have a copy of Photopaint  8. Is there a way to import brushes (and a pen in there!) to Corel Essentials from there? Thanks.

Unfortunately you cannot import/export brushes in Painter Essentials 3 or 4.  You may want to try downloading a trial of Painter Essentials 4 or Painter X to see if the brushes are better suited to your needs.
