The Navajo, Ute and Apache have Pow Wows in this area and the dances are very colorful.  I toook some photos (indoors) with no flash and a telephoto lens.  This made motion blur (in some cases) which I turned into artwork using Parinter Essentials 4 and Corel Paintshop Pro X2.

Welcome to the forum Artisan. This is a fantastic picture, lovely clashing colours, but brought together by the check patterns in background and foreground. How did you do the edging?

I am enthralled with these images which give me an insight into something so far removed from my own experiences.  I look forward to seeing more of this colourful artistic expression of these events.

Hi,  I will explain about the edges.  You will need a program like Corel Paintshop Pro to do them.

First I applied a frame which I chose as painted edges.  You might could do this in Essentials using the jagged edges.

Next, I masked the edge using the 'magic wand" masking.   Then invert the selection mask so it masks the white border, not the picture.

Finally, go to the Drop Shadow (in PSP it is under the Effects > 3D menu) and adjust it to look like you want.  Remove mask and you have a picture that seems to stand off the page.

great picture Ron - it is nice for us to see something of Native Americans, there is such rich history there, and sometimes the blur caused by dancers can be creative and add a sense of movement to the image, it has worked so well here.
