Hello! New here and a question.

I just started using PE3 and also, d/l'd PE4. I'm having quite a ball with these. I have made a few painter creations and sometimes I want to save as a .psd as well to work some more on the image in Photoshop. I thought I managed to do this once (or twice), but lately I get this message:

"You have an active untransformed selection which will not be converted into a Photoshop path. Do you want to continue?" What do I need to do to continue to save this as a PS file? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Kirk

Here is one of my first creations. I think flowers are probably a very popular item with this type of process:

Welcome. You are seeing this message because of the type of "selection" that you have on your canvas when you are saving the file as a PSD file. You can either choose "OK" and continue to save your image as a PSD file, or you can remove you selection prior to saving and you will not see that message at all.

    I hope that helps,
    Jennifer

Thank you for your response. I'm not sure, but I don't think I have a selection going on. Basically, I just process the image using the presets and the go to "save as". What type of selection is there in PE4 that I might be missing? Kirk

Sorry Kirk, I misunderstood, I thought that you were encountering this message in PE3. Can you give me more details on the steps you are taking when you encounter this message? What type of computer are you using? Does this happen every time you Photo Paint an image or only with certain styles?

    Thanks
    Jennifer

Re: Hello! New here and a question.

I am using a Compaq laptop with 1.5 Gigs of ram. Also, an external hard drive as recommended for a scratch disk. The problem doesn't appear to happen every time, but most of the time. I checked just a few moments ago and thought you might have something with the selection deal, although there was no selection that I was aware of. Being new to the program, I simply open an image, choose a preset and run it until it looks like how I'd want it. Stop the painting process and then save. Now, I went under the Select menu and chose "all" then, chose "none" immediately. Then I was able to save as a photoshop file without any problem. Also, closing the file (after saving it in the RIFF format) and reopening it allowed the ability to save as a PS file. Other than that, I'm not doing anything overly involved. So, I think my little work-around will have to suffice for now. Kirk
