Annoying Issue when collapsing layers

I've started using Corel Painter and I'm new, so pardon me.

When I collapse Layer 2 and Oval 2, it makes my lines thinner, how do I fix it?

  • I think you need to be aware of the layer "composite method". Layer 2 has a Gel method which is not anti aliased (well, that's what it looks like anyway) and when it is collapsed into a default layer it is then anti aliased making it appear smoother and thinner. How to fix it? I don't know if you can, just think of alternatives.

Thanks, fixed it! What does gel do exactly?

It's just a property of a layer that makes the pixels transparent and affect the appearance of pixels in layers underneath. A good example is watercolour. The watercolour brushes need that method to give a good approximation of real translucent watercolour - transparent but still strong in value and colour.
