she was married to one of the previous owners Cindy - over 200yrs ago - the girl in this picture is in costume playing her part

Well it must be a forum compression thing as she is not appearing see thru on my screen. I've even had a second look now that you mention it.
the compression is not the problem - if you look at say the left shoulder you can see dark lines which are the door panels behind showing through - I did another version which was more ghostlike but the painting part couldn't differentiate very well so I strengthened her image, it is all a compromise
