  • The brush performance is much better but it looks like it introduced a diffusion bug with Real Wet Oils. I keep getting random square or rectangle voids and random stroke creep since updating.

  • In reply to DigitalShade:

Everything appears to be performing well, so thank you Painter Team.

Except for the Eraser, however. Selecting it still turns the layer to Gel mode and knocks out access to Preserve Transparency. I know this is known about. Also, when using it I get cursor jitters. The cursor jumps between the Painter cursor and the Windows pointer/arrow. I'll persevere for the time being but even with the increased performance it really is too annoying to continue with for long periods. 12.01 is problem free.

Are you using the Eraser tool, an eraser brush, or the stylus eraser when this happens?  Which cursor are you using (ie Enhanced brush ghost, brush ghost, iconic, single pixel)?

    Thanks!

  • In reply to Wendy:

    Hi Wendy,

This happens with both the Eraser Tool and the rear end eraser on my grip pen. I normally use single pixel but I've tried the others and it's the same - flickering when I stroke with the Eraser. The cursor flicks between single pixel, the little clock icon that indicates "wait" and the pointer all in about a half second. I usually have the Brush Controls Panel open and whenever I erase I can see the Method and Subcategory jumping between different states.

I wonder if with this patch, we will need to relaunch it as facotry, or keeping the same workspace will keep the old bugs in it?

  • In reply to elsevilla:

Uhm *cough*, I reset my workspace and the cursor flicker has gone. (Sorry Wendy - thanks Elsevilla). The "Gel" problem remains however.

  • In reply to JoeC:

Ohh cool, let me reset my workspace too, to see if i can find some changes in a good way.

  • Just documenting this, in case it's related or helpful.

Updated from 12.1.0.1213 and immediately peformed a Factory reset.

Have just used a 50 px F-X Fairy Dust brush to spray a little magic on new layer of a Quick cloned, Gel Fractal brush, freehand cloned photo (20Mb) and got total hangsville.
